My name is Drew Argus and I’m an avid prawner and fisherman.
Spending my childhood years & still fortunate enough to be residing on the beautiful Redcliffe Peninsula, in South East Queensland, Australia, Activities such as fishing, crabbing and prawning have always been a huge part of my life. From sneaking out after school for a quick fish on the boat to now sneaking out during work
My passion for these activities became so great, that even from a young age, I began making my own fishing and prawning equipment, from rods to nets and everything in-between. To this day I continue to develop & improve, evolving my equipment to suit the ever changing conditions & ensuring best possible results.
Over the years I learnt the importance & certainly experienced the higher success rates when fishing with live bait. I quickly became obsessed with cast netting for both fresh bait & prawns. I tried most generic cast nets while honing my skills & found that certain nets & features outweighed others. I noticed the lack of quality & innovation evident in most generic cast nets. Typically, if you are seeking a quality, hand stitched net you will have to pay ‘an arm & a leg’ not to mention the lengthy wait times of up to 4-6 weeks. I know this because for almost 15 years, I used to sit at home stitching these nets all night after work for customers… Well not anymore!!!
Introducing the PRO THROW Cast Net range…. After years of development, I am taking my number one passion to the next level, allowing everyone seeking a hand made, premium quality cast net for prawning & bait gathering a wide selection of superior, quality, cast net products at an extremely competitive price.
PRO THROW Cast Nets have been tested & proven over the past 5 years & have several superior advantages over generic nets found in most retailers;
PRO THROW Cast Nets are made in a reduction style design.
PRO THROW Cast Nets are made from high grade monofilament
PRO THROW Cast Nets are all hand sewn & carefully weighted to ensure maximum performance & longevity.
PRO THROW Cast Nets top & bottom pockets are extremely functional when catching or emptying your catch.
As an avid cast netter for the past 35 years I have always updated my nets regularly and have used a variety of nets including mass produced nets and custom built nets and whilst some nets performed well others were pretty average.
Recently I came across the PRO THROW Cast Nets and I can honestly say that I have never thrown a net that casts as efficiently as these nets. The fast drop rate through the water suits the prawning I do in deep holes around Moreton Bay and the catch rate is second to none.
The nets are also made using good quality material and I have found that maintenance has been minimal as I just don't seem to get the same little rips and tears that everyday cast netting seems to produce.
All in all I couldn't be more happy with my PRO THROW Cast Net and when the time comes that I destroy it by throwing it over a boat mooring or something else silly like that I will definitely buy a new one.
Keep up the great work Pro Throw.

The introduction of the Drew Argus designed cast net (PRO THROW Cast Nets) is exciting news. It doesn’t matter if you are an experienced prawner, or bait collector, or a first-timer wanting to get in on the action. These quality nets are technologically advanced, made with strength, integrity and you, the cast-netter in mind.
Drew has many years of successful prawning experience in the creeks, rivers and open waters of Queensland’s Moreton Bay, building a reputation as one of “best” cast netters amongst a very dedicated group of fishers. And it is through this success and extensive experience, that he brings his new range of nets to the rest of Queensland and Australia.
I have used nets designed by Drew for more than 6 years now in both creeks and estuaries around my own patch of Yeppoon in Central Queensland, and when I visit the Moreton Bay area of southeast Queensland during the prawning season. They are a delight to use being strong, flexible and functional when, both clearing the pocket of big, succulent prawns and again when closing it off before the next cast. And my catches speak for themselves.
These new designs by Drew, after several years of research, introduce more pliable net materials, giving faster loading capability to get that quick shot away into a school of moving prawns (or baitfish) as well as greater freedom in the spread of the net. They are also well-balanced with net weights to get the maximum sink rate, no matter what depth of water one is fishing, whilst still maintaining the spread envelope. This new material is also very durable and will take a lot of load when those hidden snags are encountered. And as all fishers know these are important factors when chasing prawns and bait fish.
They are an extremely effective catching tool and an item that all serious fishers should have in their fishing arsenal. I recommend these nets to all fishers.

If you are in the market for a high quality bait or prawn cast net at a quality price then you simply cannot go past Drew Argus and his "PRO THROW" nets.
I have known Drew for roughly 10 years and have spent many hours on the water with him. He has made me countless number of nets. His knowledge on how prawns travel and migrate is second to none. Drew has the ability to locate and catch prawns on most occasions when he hits the water. His knowledge on nets is also second to none, his nets have had years of tweaking go into them whether it be the gauge of the net, how much the net weighs or simply the construction on the pockets which is so important.
Drew's passion in prawning and helping others really does show, and with one of the 'PRO THROW' nets in my hand I know I am always giving myself the best possible chance of catching a feed or some fresh bait for fishing.
Don't be a follower, Be an explorer!!
I bought my first "prawning" cast net from Drew way back in 2009. Prior to that, I had relied on shop bought cast nets that caught prawns more as a by-catch while chasing bait during my normal fishing activities. A couple of friends had cast nets made by Drew and had no hesitation in recommending them when I said I wanted to buy a new cast net.
My first impressions on the new cast net were on just how much better it was in all aspects. The chain bottom made it much easier to throw, and it covered a far larger area than the old net. I was also impressed by the way the top of the net "flowed" through the water as it sank, following the chain down without restricting and closing the bottom of the net while sinking. From that year, chasing prawns became a regular and successful part of my fishing activities. When I decided in 2014 that I needed a back up net after snagging my original net in my local creek, I had no hesitation in contacting Drew and arranging to buy a second net. Theses days both nets continue to be used regularly and are responsible for keeping prawns as a regular part of the seafood diet for myself and my wider family.
I would have no hesitation in recommending PRO THROW Cast Nets to anyone looking to buy a top pocket, chain bottom cast net to go chasing prawns.
Over the years I have tried & tested many different brands of cast nets from multiple business's , it's been a pleasure to have PRO THROW Cast Nets in my boat, they have stood the test of time, durability, superior strength, quality stitching & able to hold a healthy catch without any dramas.
The casting capabilities & spread are second to none, I would highly recommend PRO THROW Cast Nets to anyone from beginners to the most experienced prawners.
